I've had some pilot training, so I'll chip in.
All commercial planes have advanced information of a thunderstorm way before it arrives. Most of the airlines/pilots take a detour to avoid it. That increase expense (extra fuel cost/arrival delay, passenger compensation, delay in subsequent flights, etc.). So, the chepo airlines will take a shot at simply going through it. Risk for a big modern plane is very very small but non-zero. An airline making a decision based on costs instead of ethics will pressurize captains to go through such storms.
The lesson is simple: avoid AF. You'll have to be an idiot to fly it or a cheap airlines like that.
A meteorologist who spoke to the Associated Press said tropical thunderstorms in the Atlantic could tower up to 15,240m (50,000ft).
"At the altitude it was flying, it's possible that the Air France plane flew directly into the most charged part of the storm - the top," said Henry Margusity, senior meteorologist for AccuWeather.com.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out than some of them were former "Grand Dragons" at triple-K! Not revealing the past is an indicator of closet full of nasty skeletons.

So far there have been around 100k approvals in EB3 category out of about 170k (unused family visas made available to emploment based category) approvals in employment based category. Out of that EB2 approvals are around 50k only. Now the scenario would be like 100k approvals in EB2 and out of that 50k would be exclusively for EB2 India, leaving very little share to china. Now you could presume how fast EB2 runs.

1. What happens when changing employers when I-140 and I-485 pending for less than 180 days?
If your 485 is pending for less than 180 days, you are taking a risk. Its a calculated risk but most of the time there are no issues. In such a case , you will join a new employer and continue the process. If a RFE is raised within the 180 day period, you are in trouble. But realistically, your case is hardly worked on in the first 180 days. Once 180 days have passed, you can use AC21. A lot of people have done it in the past - and have been lucky.
2. From my understanding, the process needs to restart. However, do I have to do something to withdraw pending I-485.
If you absolutely want to do everything from scratch, yes you can withdraw your application. But its not a requirement to restart the clock until you have to.
3. Will it be termed as denied I-485 and create problems if I apply new I-485 with new employer?
No issues on your next 485 filing.

I disagree that this is a plan at the government level to make EB immigration on par with family based immigration.
Diversity is a cornerstone of the US immigration policy. It is present in both the main types of US immigration. You can argue about its merits and demerits, however when major immigration reform was debated and legislated in the 60s, diversity was set as a basis. The Diversity visa lottery speaks to this.
The H1b visa(with its absent country quotas), has now come into collision with an EB system which has these quotas. That is why we are seeing this mess.

How can anyone explain this now? Isn't it a money scheme? Is it reasonable to loose 3 months when you had already paid for it? There is always confusion in this whole GC affair. There seems no option than to live with it and move forward.
People have told me that they lose 1-3 months during ead renewal as the EAD is valid from the date of approval. But I do have seen 1-2 posts where they said new EAD starts from the expiry of current. That is why it is confusing. I think the former is more prevalent (losing 1-3 months of ead in overlap).

Now, I have provided the reference to part of AC21 law with my interpretation, which allows visa portability (unofficially known as transfer) from one sponsor to another and excempt from numeric limits.
All I hear is "incorrect", "wrong" followed by individual interpretation or opinion. I respect all disagreement part, Which may be/not be accurate. Why don't you quantify your comments with references to law or CIS memo? Don't you think discussion need to be healthy and fair?
Now, I have a lot of filthy and rediculous offensive messages on the discussion threads with reds, which I would not like to post in public. If this is what our anonymous so called "highly skilled" can bring to the table, then I am speachless.

First - EB2s stop replying posts that were written in frustration and you understand why, They will not affect and take away your GC. Since you are not frustrated you have to start first.
Second - EB3s - Frustration will never bring you anything and you can not move PD faster. Instead capatialize the situation that EB2s are getting GC. How you have to think and focus.
I can give my example. I made network of some who got GC and have some influence in recruiting. After working 9 years for a big Pharma and got layed off, My one buddy got GC long back in EB2 , helped me and received job through him though I have to drive 220miles everyday.
Am I frustrated yes!! More than anybody else here but has to calm down and think positivily.
Hope my post will help you to reduce some frustration.

I called couple of Desi consultancies..and they told me that lot of thier I-140's aqre getting rejected in this conversion drama...since they are looking for finanacials of the companies and looking for $3 mil of profits..? well do you have anybody who successfully converted from Eb-2-3 please IM me which companies I could contact...

And yes, my contribution to IV so far as been $1000 and involvement in other drives. Your question to me regarding my contribution made me squirm a bit since you might have categorized me with many of IV's freeloaders. That's just like Americans asking me all the time "Are you on an H1-B visa and do you work for a bodyshopper". :)

I don't know the history of BigTime007 postings. Maybe he has said some things in the past that lead to the ban but his most recent post which got him banned seemed just like venting and nothing more.
What I do find annoying though is when ppl whose PD's are in 2006-2007 tell ppl rotting in BEC to "enjoy the ride". I have seen a few threads in the past where someone stuck in BEC was just venting and then ppl come along and tell them to "be happy for others". I don't get it. How is a person who is stuck for years, sees ppl with later cases get interim benefits, supposed to feel happy knowing they will still be stuck. :confused:
I think all these poor souls are looking for is a few words of sympathy and company of ppl in similiar situation (not very different from ppl complaining about retrogression mind you). If we can not do anything to help ppl stuck in those blackhole let's not rub salt into their wounds.
Lastly, regardless of whether you are stuck in BEC or expect to be stuck in retrogression for the next few years, there is no reason to be uncivil.

Put in a modest membership as $250 a year or $25/month. No trial memberships or free rides. That way you will really know the serious members and we will able to verify anti-immigrants vs the actual people. Let's go PAID !!! Thanks for writing. Supposing everything goes smoothly, what is on average the time frame to get to the stage where you get a PD. I'm not looking for miracles to get GC through nobel prize or gold medal. Just trying to have an idea here. Take it easy on a the poor man bro :)
If there was much advice we could give about expediting the process, there would be very few people on this board, unfortunately!
Even those who are just eligible to file for the last stage, its likely to take years longer on average.
Other than suggesting you win a Nobel prize, win an Olympic gold medal, or select the country of your birth, there is little feasible that I can say.
The good news is, things could move a lot faster than those of us that are or were stuck in the Backlog Elimination Centers.
Oh - and those talking about the reintroduction of CIR - remember, it also was taking out pretty much all AC21 provisions which will still affect people on EAD
