In fact I had the same thought! I did talk to a number of fellow participants on Sep 18th rally. Everybody seemed to welcome the idea!

About 1000 Legal immigrants rally in Washington DC!
Or
Thousands and thousands of legal immigrants rally all over the country!
It is very obvious that the total number of participants (put together) will be much higher in local rallies. For instance, I was the only one in the Sep 18th rally from my family. If it was local, all the four of my family would have been there! I am sure that this is the case with most of us!!
Sep 18th was a golden day in our strong movement! We learnt a lot from the dedicated organizers. Many of the participants (including myself) have gained practical experience about what is involved in organizing a rally. Let us build up on this experience to organize multiple but simultaneous rallies in different parts of the country (in almost all the state capitals and big cities).
I have a lot to share.... but can't do it more during my office time.
Shall come back to you during the week end.
Meanwhile, I would love to hear from others about this concept!!

Congrats on getting your green card and still continue to contribute for the cause of IV. I am also one among who got GC and still do what ever best I can to fight this injustice.
I hope many like us will continue to contribute their fair share even after getting their GC.

:D Where have we heard this before.
To any member who has been looking at some of the posts since April/May of this year it will be apparant that there has been an attempt by the ultra conservative, anti-immigration groups to create a divide among legal and so called illegal immigration issues. It was good to see that most members perceived this and stayed away from singing the legal vs illegal immigration tune.
Now comes the lame attempt to play on your fears again. What would happen to you if all these so called "illegals" were to get in line ahead of you? The knee-jerk reaction is so obvious. If you see deeper, you will find that all this is but wenting of frustration by the anti-immigration groups on their major loss in the recent elections.
There is a precedent for this behaviour. After the CIR was passed in Senate in May earlier this year, these same anti-immigration group members posted so many inflamatory posts that created a bad vibe on this forum. Well today is a redo of that. Just count the number of posts and you will know what I mean. ;) I urge all members to look at the new ray of hope provided by the change in the new congress and ignore attempts to dampen your enthusiasm in garb of fair and balanced aka an anti-immigration spin :)

My experience has been similar,although I took the e-filing route for my wife.
Incidentally, e-filing is very convenient and takes less than ten minutes.....if you keep all the info ready. Apart from charging the right amount, the receipt also mentions where the application needs to be sent. There was some confusion when I was reading the paper-based form instructions, until I saw the receipt printout.
After e-filing, took a print out of the receipt and added
Copy of I485 receipt (I797)
Copy of earlier AP
Copy of marriage cert (I cant recollect why I began using it. This is the 3rd AP...renewed twice after the July 2007 filing)
Copies of the passport pages
Copy of I94
Two photographs
We mailed it on 16 Dec, and today it has been approved and mailed back.
It was quite exciting to see the 'post-decision' bubble being filled up.

You are back on track and adjustment status.
All the best for later 485 approval too.
Hopefully with IV efforts USCIS will stop this drama in future.

If you file today it will be past october when you have to choose between EB2 and EB3 (I485 stage for EB2) till that time you have both the process going on EB2 and EB3.
If you start EB2 process in October it will take 6 to 9 months to clear labor and I 140..
It is taking average of 1 year for I140. And there is a possibility of PERM audit , which can derail all your plans.

My Lawyer didn't file my I-485 until July 7, 2007. He never replied to my e-mails or my phone calls.
My whole experience with them appeared to be as if I know more than them. It appeared as if I had to educate them about the development.
Considered changing lawyers and also considered filing on my own. But finally thought to ahve atleast soem attorney whom i know(at least i know what can expect?).

Are you sure your employer didn't sneak in a labor sub without your knowledge??
If not, you got a lucky break, just cherish it? Once in a while USCIS gives us good surprises too:D Few of the folks don't have the guts to share such a lucky break on the forum, thanks for letting us know. EB2 visa's are available and hence the approval won't be a surprise except that u'r PD's aren't current. It would've been a huge surprise if this happened to EB3-I. May be the adjudicator mistakenly saw U as a ROW applicant. We all wish this adjudicator be assigned with lots of cases:D

I agree with you 100%. As this is true, lawmakers are very well aware of our grief, but none of them is saying it. They want to oppose legals in the name of opposing illegal immigration bills. If you look at CIR in 2006. First they put legals in the bill with illegals, then they oppose illegals, ultimately the result is no legal immigartion too. Nothing is getting passed in the congress for the legal immigration. what does it tell ?

Also, if our fate is still so tied up with 12+ millions illegals, doesn't that mean that we failed to make our case, even with so much media coverage, lobbying and our personal efforts to call the law makers. Could another explanation be that lawmakers have all but refised to treat us with dignity we deserved as an educated, law abiding, tax paying citizens contributing to the society. I believe that we didn't fail and we tried what we could but still lawmakers refuse to act on our casue, may be they are implying something without explicitly saying it ?
